All new developments are designed with full disabled access in mind, two such display buildings being easily accessible for wheelchairs.  In addition, we have the facility to offer disabled visitors a tram ride on a wheelchair accessible tram (accessed by means of a ramp) and our light railway has space for 1 wheelchair with a ramp leading up to the station platform at Chapel Road.  Trolleybuses are not generally deemed as having easy disabled access, although one of our vehicles does have a front entrance/exit with handrails that is just a little above kerb height which does make a ride a possibility for those disabled visitors who are able to walk with aid for a very short distance.

However, the East Anglia Transport Museum is an open air museum with many buildings that are not designed with disabled access in mind. We have full disabled comfort facilities and a visit is worthwhile, but may be tiring for visitors with mobility problems. People in wheelchairs may need an escort to take full advantage of a visit.

Our members will always do their best to help whenever possible to ensure that your visit is enjoyable.  However, should you be intending to visit the museum it would be helpful to us in ensuring that our accessible vehicles are operating on that day if you could notify us by letter or telephone either on the day of, or a couple of days before your visit.  Although we will always do our best to provide these vehicles when they are required, we cannot guarantee this and it should be noted that vehicles of this age can sometimes become unavailable at very short notice.
