Derby Trolleybus 224 Runs at The Trolleybus Museum at Sandtoft
In August The Trolleybus Museum at Sandtoft held an East Midlands weekend and one of the highlights was a return visit of 224. The bus had been exchanged for London 1812, which was to operate at Carlton Colville for the Trolleybus Event.

When 224 was delivered to Derby Corporation in 1952 most vehicles utilised had steel framed bodies, however 224 carries a wood framed Willowbrook body designed by Brush.
Its service life in Derby seems to be uneventful until the decision was taken to have 224 as the last trolleybus to run in Derby. Unfortunatly this was not to be the case as a another vehicle, 236, followed 224 into the depot.
After withdrawal 224 was purchased for preservation and taken to the Trollleybus Museum at Sandtoft where it stayed for several years.
It was then purchased by The London Trolleybus Preservation society and towed to our museum where it has been a regular peformer ever since.
